Classic Rock lives on.

Client: BBC.

Creatives: Matt Heck and Damian Fitzgerald.

Role: Art direction, design, photography.

Part brand repositioning, part educational, part awareness launch campaign created for Classic Rock 95.3 FM in Sydney, and 91.5 FM in Melbourne. Adshels, bus shelters, billboards, posters, and a long copy print campaign positioned them as the place where ‘Classic Rock Lives On’.

Fans of classic rock music enjoy knowing more about the artists and events that transpired during those times. And Classic Rock FM often uses interesting anecdotes and facts to fill the air between songs. So, for the print campaign, we brought to life some vastly unknown stories about classic rock legends.

My idea to lend to the creative was to get all the back catalogues of Rolling Stone Magazine, I studied the magazine’s and in particular the year the stories broke. I then focused deeper on the month of the story, I mimicked that year’s advertising and publishing trends, fonts, grid systems, paragraph styles, drop-caps, you name it (full design geek out).

Fun Fact:

I burnt numerous American flags to create one of the executions, I later found out it is highly illegal.
